Recipe of the Day: Cream Cheese Wontons

You may have noticed that I have a thing for cream cheese, since I have posted recipes for a cream cheese spread and a cream cheese omelet. Yes, yes, I do. Another way I love cream cheese is in a sandwich with marinated sliced tomatoes and chopped iceberg lettuce.

But nothing compares to Cream Cheese Wontons. 

Cream Cheese Wontons

24 Square wonton wrappers

1 8 oz package cream cheese (plain or flavored)

Oil for frying

Sweet and sour sauce (for dipping) 

Place approximately 1 teaspoon of cream cheese in middle of wonton wrapper. Lightly moisten edges of wonton wrapper with water and fold in half to form a triangle. Fold remaining 2 edges together and seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers.

Heat oil in deep skillet or fryer to 350F. Fry wontons 6 to 8 at a time about 4 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towel.

Serve plain or with sweet and sour sauce for dipping.
