I have a lot of friends and family members who are vegan and I really do admire them for it. But I have no desire to be one too.
Mostly because there just are not enough veggies that I like to eat. No matter what anyone says, cauliflower will always taste like cauliflower to me, no matter how it’s prepared. I’m not going to like it any better. I don’t care for sweet potatoes, asparagus, kale, cucumbers, okra, avocados, Brussels sprouts, parsnips, turnips, collard greens, rutabagas, artichokes, eggplant, cabbage, beets, peas, corn, beans, rhubarb, yams, squash, and lima beans. I’m not a fan of brown rice and I just finally started eating the tofu in my Chinese hot and sour soup… but don’t push it. Tofu pups? No thanks.
I like my pork and dairy products too much to give up BBQ ribs and bacon, cheese, butter and ice cream. And as much as I love tomatoes and broccoli, I’m not sure I could live on those alone along with just lettuce, radishes, green onions, green peppers, carrots, potatoes, onions, green beans, mushrooms and garlic.
Also as soon as you tell me I can’t have something, that’s when I want it even more. I not willing and able to sacrifice something yet, even for the greater good. Maybe someday.
So, for now, I will admire you all from a far while I munch on my BLT sandwich (which does have lettuce and tomato…just pointing that out…)
